The Tikar are based in the Cameroon. They are extremely religious, practicing witchcraft and black magic. Tikar masks are valued for their aesthetic value. A single mask can take weeks to make and will usually will be handed down by each successive generation. Powerful details carved from a hard native wood distinguish Tikar masks. To symbolize the region's recent prosperity, sometimes copper African coins are attached. Brass can also typically fill the eye cavities, nose and chin as a finishing touch.
